Read the passage to or with your children.
Leviticus 16
Memorize and recite this verse with your children throughout the
"We have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all."
- Hebrews 10:10
Watch the video below with your children.
Take time with your family to discuss these questions (or variations of these questions) together, and reflect on this week’s truth and Word.
Who was allowed to enter the tabernacle to meet with God? How often could that person meet with God? How did he have to prepare? What does this tell us about God?
TakeawayGod is holy.
Why do you think the other Israelites couldn't go into the tabernacle? Why was a sacrifice needed? Can sin be in the presence of a holy God?
TakeawayWe are sinful and therefore separated from a holy God.
Because our holy God cannot be in the presence of sin, how did he make it possible for the Israelites to be in relationship with him? What did the two goats symbolize for the Israelites about their sin?
TakeawayThrough a substitute sacrifice, God forgives and forgets our sin.
How is Jesus like the two goats on the Day of Atonement? How is Jesus better than the two goats?
TakeawayJesus is the ultimate substitute sacrifice.
As your family reflects on the truths you learned in this week’s lesson, pray together.
Here are some questions to get you started...
- What did I learn about God that I can praise Him for?
- What sins and weaknesses can I confess to God?
- What promises can I thank God for?
Keep going
The story runs on.
