Let's Make a Deal
Genesis 15 & 17. Part 1 of the story, the pentateuch. This guide went out for Sunday September 22, 2024.
Reinforce this truth throughout the week and during your study.
God can always be trusted.
Read the passage to or with your children.
Genesis 15 & 17
Memorize and recite this verse with your children throughout the
He [Abraham] believed the LORD, and he counted it to him as righteousness.
- Genesis 15:6
Watch the video below with your children.
Take time with your family to discuss these questions (or variations of these questions) together, and reflect on this week’s truth and Word.
What were the amazing promises God made to Abraham (review Genesis 12:1-3, if needed)? How does God respond when Abraham has doubts about these big promises?
TakeawayGod helps Abraham overcome his doubt by reminding him that he will always keep his amazing promises.
With God's help, what did Abraham believe about God's promises? How would you describe faith?
TakeawayHaving faith in God means we believe that what he says is true, even when it is hard to believe.
What are some good deeds you did this week? Were all those deeds enough to make you perfect ("righteous") in the sight of a perfect and holy God? Why not?
TakeawayNo one is perfect; everyone is sinful.
If everyone is sinful, and no one is holy and perfect, how could you or me be righteous in God's sight? (If the children need hep answering, you could ask, "Why was Abraham considered righteous in God's sight?").
TakeawayLike Abraham, through faith in God (believing what he says is true), we are given God's righteousness.
As your family reflects on the truths you learned in this week’s lesson, pray together.
Here are some questions to get you started...
- What did I learn about God that I can praise Him for?
- What sins and weaknesses can I confess to God?
- What promises can I thank God for?
Keep going
The story runs on.
