Discussion

Take time with your family to discuss these questions (or variations of these questions) together, and reflect on this week’s truth and Word.

What promise did God make to Abraham that made Sarah laugh? How do we see God keep this promise? What have we been learning about God and his promises?

TakeawayWhen God makes a promise, he keeps it: Abraham finally had a son.

What crazy command did God give to Abraham? Why did Abraham choose to obey God? How can we be like Abraham?

TakeawayLike Abraham, we should completely trust God, and obey him even when it's hard.

Did Abraham sacrifice his son? What happened to save Isaac's life? What does that teach us about our God?

TakeawayGod provides - he provided for Abraham; he will provide for us.

What is the punishment for sin? God provided the ram to save Isaac's life. Who did God provide to save our life from death? What is the only way to escape God's punishment for sin?

TakeawayGod the Father's sacrifice of his beloved Son, Jesus, provides forgiveness for all our sins.

Pray

As your family reflects on the truths you learned in this week’s lesson, pray together.

Here are some questions to get you started...

  1. What did I learn about God that I can praise Him for?
  2. What sins and weaknesses can I confess to God?
  3. What promises can I thank God for?
